A man and a woman meet in the ruins of post-war Poland. With vastly different backgrounds and temperaments, they are fatally mismatched and yet drawn to each other.
It was the second time I had seen Cold War and I loved it even more the second time. The camera work was outstanding, the cutting breathtaking and the story held me all the way. Sheer perfection in every respect.
Director Pawel Pawlikowski has done it again ,by creating a film that ,nearly but not quite, matches the beauty and intense character perfection of Ida.Seen here at film club a few years ago.Cold War is so beautifully photographed ,in black and white, big in atmosphere, that the flaws in the telling of the love story between the two characters hardly mattered.
Last night I was puzzled by the ending, but this morning I thought,no a superb way to symbolise an impossible romance.
